Things parents need to know before their family photo session
After weeks of juggling schedules and searching for the right photographer, your family photo session is finally booked.
Nightmares of a hidden juice box exploding over your kids new outfits keep you from sleeping,
or maybe your 4 year old has a few chin scratches after nosediving at the playground.
You might be thinking, odds are 50/50, everything will go as planned or completely up in flames.
Here's are 6 tips your photographer can't say out loud, but wished you knew.

Let Kids Be Kids
No need to elaborate on this one, let kids be kids. Remember this is about capturing the moments even the real ones.
Chill Out Mama
The old phrase "If mama ain't happy, ain't no-one happy!" applies to most family situations and your photo session is no exception.
If you spent hours on Pinterest searching "how to pose for photos" or practiced smiling in front of a mirror til your cheeks went numb, you might be stressing out for the wrong reasons. Let the photographer work their magic and relax it'll all be over soon.
Let Us Handle Details
Remember, your photographers job is not only to make your kids have fun, it's also to make you look your best. Photographers are trained to notice details and adjust when needed.
Photos First, Candy Later
PhotoShop can only do so much. If you need to bring a snack, avoid ones that leave fingers messy. Stay away from Chocolate, Cheesy Crackers, or anything that melts, stains or crumbs. NO JUICE BOXES
Recommended Snacks: Fruit Snacks, nuts, clear soda or water
Snacks should only be given as a quick distraction towards the end or middle of the photoshoot, not at the beginning. Plan something fun for your kids to do afterwards, like go out for ice cream or swimming at a pool.
Don't say, "That's not your REAL smile..."
Take a moment to think about this phrase. Will it cause a "Positive" or "Negative" reaction from your child. If you think positive, think again.
If your children are between the ages of 4-18, chances are you've said this phrase during a photoshoot or its evil sidekick, "NO, show your REAL Smile"... Remember what their reaction was afterwards, probably not what you were hoping for. Better to let the pro handle this situation.
Professional photographers can tell when kids are giving a genuine smiles or cheesy grins. Not only are they trained to operate a crazy expensive camera, but also to be pretty decent comedians.
Enjoy the Moment
In a blink of an eye kids grow up, move out and start families of their own. Take this time to enjoy each other and let your photographer capture the moments you'll remember years down the road.
